Sep 27, 2011 Hi, i'm in a way to make decission of buying quadro 4000 for mac. I got couple of questions here: Does anyone here ever try to install 2 cards of quadro 4000 on mac pro? Is it running smooth? Any problem or issue? Do we got significant speed boost? Means when using 2 card, will i get nearly 2x render/processing speed. Mar 30, 2011 I use the Quadro 4000 for Mac with the HP Dreamcolor LP2480zx monitor. The text (menu, icons, windows, etc) appear with no antialiasing. At this level, the Quadro 4000 card seems to be pretty unusable.
Ok, so I hear from Blackmagic that tons of people are using the Quadro 4000 successfully with Resolve. I find this curious since I can't get my machine to run for more than 5 minutes with that card installed. I've read all the nonsense about Apple and 10.6.7 and the 'fix' from Nvidia.
I've installed everything in the proper order, even going so far as rebuilding my entire system from the ground up with a clean OS install and combo update to 10.6.7 (with an ATI card installed), then installing the latest Nvidia drivers, then putting in the Quadro and booting again. Let the kernel panics ensue. So, if there's ANYONE out there that has made this work successfully I'd love to know the secret.
Maybe I have a bad card, but since Nvidia tech support doesn't seem to exist I'm not sure how to find out other than this plea to my fellow cows. Can anyone help a brother out? I've been fighting with this for a week and half now. Thanks Chris Tomberlin Outpost Pictures Mac 12-core 48 GB Ram OSX 10.6.7 Quadro 256.01.00f03v7 Driver Cuda driver that comes with Resolve. Are you answering your own question? I was under the impression that Resolve configuration required a GUI card plus a GPU for image processing and that trying to run the app with only one card was not recommended. This would be part of the limitations that apply to MacBooks, and once OpenCL is added in the next version, iMacs.
JPo You mean 'Old Ben'? Hi I have a 2008 3.1 2x2.8Ghz quad core mac pro running Resolve 7.1 with a FX4000 with no problems. Here's my config ATI 2600HD Slot 1 ( i know it's not spec but it works just fine for the GUI) feeding 1 monitor for the GUI. PNY Quadro FX4000 for Mac Slot 2 (i know this is a dumb question but you have checked the power cable for the Quadro is plugged in correctly right?) Maybe you should try not to mix NVIDIA and ATI cards, but use another NVIDIA card for GUI (maybe you have spare to try with it)? Also try the usual troubleshooting steps, like removing all other cards, all but two memory modules etc. Andrew Shtern Editor/Colorist The Coffeepost, UA. Hi Chris, is this fixed now? You have to have at least two graphiccards in your system. One for the GUI, this could be an ATI Radeon HD 5770 for Mac OR a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac if you want to go with a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac as a GPU. This is the card to connect with the Monitor.
AND a second card as a GPU in your case NVIDIA Quadro 4000 for Mac Make sure, that there is NO Monitor connected to any port of this card! Ist just theGPU for image processing not for displaying anything. Help with recommendations for mac.

We sold many of these systems to our customers and they are all making money with them Maybe could help you also. Please let me know P.S. You cannot use the ATI Radeon HD 5770 for Mac as a GUI card and a NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 for Mac as a GPU, because they are both 2 slots width and you'll run out of space in the Mac Pro Jens creative tools Hamburg, Germany.
