If I weren't banned from the original thread I started two years ago about fans campaigning for it, I would bump that shit up. If I recall, my thread turned to 'why?' 'Aaliyah's not known for make up' 'Aaliyah's not an icon' Lol eat crow hoes! Thank you to all fans/stans and even non stans that supported! Hopefully this collection caters to black women seeing as Aaliyah was one. More things to come ladies and gents!
***ETA*** Found the old thread. Strangely enough, the ones talking shit couldn't find their way into this one. I made sure to give each of you a 'laugh'.

Click to expand. I remember that thread! I couldn't believe 'supposedly black women' on site for black women was dismissing the talent and artistry efforts of black woman (Aaliyah. All of the fucking ppl you can diss) while elevating a Latina. I am a Selena fan, too. I had no problem with her getting a collection.
But fonts was really on here saying that Aaliyah shouldn't have a collection for all the same reasons they said/agree that Selena should have one. The amount of disdain Aaliyah got (over a damn makeup collection) while in favor of a non-black woman was baffling. We really are our own enemies sometimes. But I am also aware that this site, which is supposed to be for us, is infested with others.: There was nothing ground-breaking/iconic about Selena's make-up. It is what it is.
The only thing that really stood out was her constant red lipstick. Which red has been the default/go-to lip stick color for women for ages. Yet, fonts in that thread were acting like Selena invented red lipstick. Unless it was an editorial photo, Selena's make was usually bad.
Her foundation was like 10x lighter than her skin tone and unblended. Selena doesn't need to be known for wearing perfect makeup to get a collection. She was great singer/entertainer and an icon in her own right and I thought the collection (regardless of how she wore her makeup when she was alive) was just a way to honor her memory and remember her. So why are/were people so against Aaliyah having a collection? Especially when Aaliyah makeup was ALWAYS on point, whether she was doing bold/glam look for a music video or just a subtle, every day, light make up look. She stayed on point with her makeup and her hair. Aaliyah was contouring/highlighting and filling in her brows perfectly years before these insta hoes and yt gurus started doing it and it became common knowledge.

Aaliyah's style is still being replicated over and over til this day. When you look back at photos of Aaliyah and Selena, it's obvious who's makeup looks way better. But I'm sure that had Selena lived much longer, her makeup would've improved as with everything else in time.
/b42-manuela-wetlands-on-flowvella/. If I'm not mistaken, Aaliyah actually wore MAC makeup. I remember one of her makeup artists talking about this. So yes, MAC giving Aaliyah a collection is long over due. She should have been got one. A long ass time ago.
